Sunday, 31 May 2009: SOLEMINTY OF PENTECOST

Holy SpiritIt is fifty days since we celebrated Easter Sunday, the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Today we recall the apostles gathered around Mary, the mother of the Lord, interceding for the grace to witness to the experience and events of Jesus Christ’s life, death, resurrection and ascension.  The grace they received was the gift of the Holy Spirit—God indwelling in them and helping them in all their endeavours to announce and witness to the transforming presence of Jesus Christ. That same Spirit has been given to us.

This is a wonderful day for the whole community of St John Ogilvie as Sophie celebrates the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Communion at the 10am Mass.  We welcome Sophie’s family and friends to this celebration. Sophie has been guided to this day by her parents, brothers, Sponsor and our Catechists, Sr Margaret and Julia Maguire. “Thank You” Sophie for taking this next step in your desire to come to know Jesus Christ more deeply, to imitate him and to let him live in you.
